As we enter the peak season for all the outdoor activities Custer County is known for, the town starts buzz with activity. Westcliffe is the ideal basecamp for hiking, camping, fishing, biking, ATV’ing, or adventures on the river.
Our weather is pleasantly warm, but rarely hot. Afternoon showers that sweep over the valley are common from mid-June to mid-August. While they usually don’t stick around long, if you’re headed up the mountain, you’ll want to plan accordingly.
It’s easy to make incredible summer memories here with family and friends. Marvel at the Fourth of July fireworks over DeWeese Reservoir. Experience top-rated musical talent at our famous bluegrass festival. Enjoy a Shakespeare performance in our outdoor amphitheater. And leave awe-struck after a Star Party at the observatory.
But truly, this just scratches the surface. With a packed, exciting event calendar, there’s so much you won’t want to miss during a summer spent in Westcliffe.
